Perhaps this kind of styling, although it is in line with the current fashion, he looks too boldly into the future. Time will tell, is it pioneering, or ephemeral.
The body of the Fiat Multipli was built using the skeleton method. The floor plate is a spatial truss, welded from pressed sheet metal beams. The appropriate arrangement of the longitudinal and transverse elements guarantees the required stiffness of the floor, creates zones of programmed crumple around the entire vehicle and enables technologically easy modifications to the car (e.g.. changing the wheelbase means a different arrangement of the cross members and a different welding process; in commonly used constructions, it is necessary to very costly develop a new floor panel extrusion). The skeleton of the passenger compartment is welded to such constructed floor, covered with plating sheets, which shape the vehicle body. The suspension and drive unit are attached to the truss floor by auxiliary stub frames. The functional qualities of the Multipla body are increased by the vertical side walls. This design makes, that the interior has the same width at the floor level, seats, passenger shoulders and roof. As a result, its capacity is significantly increased.
Multiple with a compact body shape (4 m in length, 2,67 m wheelbase) developed as a six-seater car, thus expanding the circle of vehicle recipients. Passengers sit in Multipla in two rows, in comfortable, armchairs of the same size. To give the driver complete freedom of movement, the front passenger's seat can be moved back several centimeters. In this way, direct contact between the passenger's and driver's arms is avoided. When there are two people in front, the center seat backrest can be folded down and used as a table, so does the rear center seat.

All seats in the car (in addition to the driver's seat) can be folded up and taken out, although due to their weight it is not easy. Removing the seats transforms the Multipla into a delivery vehicle, the advantage of which is a flat floor (thanks to the skeleton structure of the body) with little space-saving wheel arches, located around the tailgate. The qualities of the six-seater interior are particularly visible, when transport needs require enlarging the trunk. The rear seats can be folded in any configuration, and their complete folding guarantees a double volume of the luggage compartment. Despite the "liquidation" of the rear seats, the car has places for three passengers. No other car of this class offers such a possibility, available on the European market.

The interior is bright thanks to the large area of ​​glass, while the vertical side walls protect them from excessive heating by sunlight. The interior design of the Multipla passenger compartment is a sign of courage, openness and originality of designers. The belt under the windshield is very functional, by placing two flat, lockable compartments in it, several useful shelves and storage compartments of various sizes. The most controversial and overly original remarks are caused by the form of the set of indicators integrated with the ventilation system regulators, air inlet nozzles, radio and gear lever. Access to buttons, knobs and levers is good, consistent with logic and ergonomics. The location and operation of the gearshift lever deserves the highest praise. Readability of indicators at night good, enough during the day, weak in strong sunlight, it is particularly difficult to read the fuel level in the tank, clock and odometer readings. In practice, setting the central nozzles directing the air from the ventilation system is only possible when stationary. They are too far from the driver and it's hard to "see", which knob does what. An ergonomic peculiarity is the placement of the electric exterior mirror adjustment control element in… the roof above the windshield. The second element located differently than we are used to is the auxiliary brake lever. It is located on the left side of the driver's seat. Its placement was forced by the positioning of the third front seat.
Driving is easy. The steering system, equipped with high-performance power assistance, ensures high steering precision. Brakes with standard ABS work reliably, they also have a well-tuned assistance system, providing a logical correlation between the pressure on the pedal, and the effectiveness of action. The very good motion stability of the car results from the long wheelbase and wheelbase as well as the well-chosen suspension characteristics, using McPherson columns on the front axle, and trailing wishbones at the rear, attached to a transverse torsion beam. This system performs well on bumpy, damaged surfaces, providing passengers with suspension comfort. The inclination in the bends is slight and does not change the behavior of the car.
The basic version of Multipla is powered by a 4-cylinder engine with a capacity 1,6 dm3 and power 76 kW, used in Bravo / Brava / Marea and Siena / Palio. The parameters of this 16-valve unit match the Multipla. It is flexible and dynamic enough, although it will disappoint amateurs of sports driving. The dynamics of the car allows freedom in city traffic, effortless overtaking on the road and maintaining high average speeds. During slow city driving, even a fully loaded car consumes 8,8-9,7 dm3 benzyny na 100 km.
